I Couldn't Resist

I'm pretty lucky that I get to put my Interior Design degree to use twice a year and work at the High Point International Home Furniture Market. I help put together the Guildmaster showroom. Doing this has plenty of advantages, one being that every once in a while I get to bring home a great piece of furniture like this! My husband would argue that we have too much furniture and I have to admit that it did take quite a bit of figuring and rearranging to find a place to put this, but I just couldn't resist. I had something special in mind for it. (By the way, my husband loves moving furniture around for me. He didn't complain once. Yeah, right. But hey, that's what he gets for marrying a designer. Designers like to move furniture around a lot.)
I wanted to a place to display my quilts and this fit the bill perfectly. I have been wondering what the heck I was gonna do with all these quilts I have. Lately they have been getting stacked up in the crib in the nursery, but since that space will be occupied soon, I needed to do something with them. So, Viola! And doesn't that cute little Featherweight tuck in there perfectly!

Head of the Class

I get to teach some classes at Karen Gray Design so I have been busy getting some samples made up. Tomorrow is a Patchwork Belt class where we get to make these cute belts. They are quick to make and I think would make perfect Christmas Gifts.

These cute little Ric-Rac Napkins are also on the schedule for October and November and I think they would make great little gifts, too.

Pears Please

The Forsyth Piecers and Quilters Guild that I belong to participates in the Brenner Tree Project every year to help raise money for the Brenner Children's Hospital. People from the community decorate Christmas trees that are then auctioned off to community members. It is a great project for a great cause. This year we are doing a Partridge in a Pear Tree themed tree. Some of the ladies got together with me last Friday and made these beautiful pears. Don't they look so delicious! Only about 75 more to make. Shew!

Score!

Can you believe what my brother-in-law found in his grandmother's house... a white featherweight! He gave it to me yesterday and I have already been sewing on it. It is in perfect condition. I don't think his grandmother ever used it. It sews perfectly. It even has the original key for the case. I feel like I hit the lotto. It's funny what can make some people happy. This makes me happy!

Finally Getting Something Done

I am finally getting back into some crafting and starting to check things off of my list. Slowly but surely. First thing completed... the spiderweb quilt. And one of my favorite things about it...
my new little labels. I ordered them from the same talented lady that makes Red Pepper Quilts labels and here is the info on that, in case you are wondering. I have so many things that I want to make and I get excited just thinking about all those things. Now if I could just stop being so flaky and get organized and focused.

Mommy Like!

I cannot tell you how bad I want to buy this pair of Frye boots! The only thing standing in my way of some instant gratification.... the $348 price tag. Cha-ching. Mommy like, but mommy cheap! I keep trying to justify buying them. I still have boots from my high school days, so when you break the cost down by the number of years I will probably own these babies, not so expensive, right! Also, they are made in America. Not many things are made in America anymore and it would be worth it to spend that money on something made in America. And, I'm still barfing in my eighteenth week of pregnancy, so I should treat myself just for the simple fact that I have been barfing for the last 3 months. I mean for that reason alone I should get them! Ahhhh. I waaaannnt them! Boo-hoo.

Unbe-weave-able!

I felt it only right that I follow up the last post with a little review of the second installment of the Real Housewives of New Jersey Reunion. Holy Moley Eyes! What the heck was all that about?

Hilarious that Danielle pulled a mannequin head with a weave on it out of her purse. Poor little Andy wasn't strong enough to yank it out. It was almost like a "if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" moment. Not sure what to make of the ending. Danielle's hug went from uhh, to awk-ward to super, super creepy really fast. I really miss the Watch What Happens! after-show because I would have loved to hear Andy's recap of the whole crazy thing.
