When Something Old Becomes New

This is Ellen's quilt. It is one of the quilts I got done this week.
There is an interesting story behind this quilt. The grandmother of Ellen's God-daughter found these fabrics along with a sketch of how the quilt blocks where to look under her mother's bed. She gave the sketch and the fabric to Ellen.
Following the sketch and adding a few fabrics to it, Ellen completed the quilt. She is going to give it to her God-daughter. Now her God-daughter is going to have something started many years ago by her great-grandmother. I love the history of this quilt and I love it when something old becomes new again. This is a really special quilt.

Urban Chained

This has been a quilty week. I didn't get any quilting done last week because my nephews were here for summer camp. I ran around taking Fletcher and his cousin to horse camp and entertaining them. (I'll share pictures of camp soon.)
So this week... I played catch up. I have gotten six quilts done this week including squeezing in my own quilt. I did a straight line, spiky kind of meander on it. I thought it would be a good contrast with the curves.
I put the quilt at The Little General. She has all of these great fabrics there.
I have pictures of some of the quilts I did this week and I will post those soon.

Sunday Sewing

I am trying to set aside a little time each Sunday to do a little sewing for myself.
This is the Urban Chained Pattern from Sew Kind of Wonderful. It is made using her Quick Curve Ruler. You can find both the pattern and the ruler on her website.
It took a little trial and error and a trip back to the fabric store to get more fat quarters, but I finally figured it out. I can't wait to get it quilted, but that may have to wait. Thankfully, I have a bunch of customer quilts to get done. I also bought her Urban Candy pattern. I already have the fabric picked out, so that may be my next Sunday Sewing Project. I am thinking that this would be a great class, so stay tuned. I might teach this in the fall at The Little General if there is enough interest. That way, you all can benefit from all the mistakes I made. Then you won't have to buy extra fabric like I did!

Tangled Webs

This is Little Miss Angie at Stitching by Starlight's quilt.
She designed it herself and made it up in Tula Pink's Nightshade fabrics.
Isn't is amazing. I had the pleasure of getting to quilt it. It's full of swirls (of course) and loopy thingies and such.
It is currently hanging in The Little General for all to admire. Angie is going to be teaching a class at The Little General on how to make it in the Fall. I believe that she will also be giving it out as a free pattern, so be looking for that on her blog soon. (Thanks to Angie for letting me quilt it for her and for letting me lift the pictures she took of it off her blog. I forgot to take some.)

Just a little post to let you all know about a great little fabric boutique open in Reynola Village. Gina Pozi-Fornecker is the new proprietor of this amazing shop. You will all love Gina. She is young, creative and inspiring, so stop by and see her. And pick up some great fabric while you are there! (I am a non-paid spokesperson!) I am going to be doing a little teaching there. I am scheduled for Beginning Quilting and a Metal Frame Purse class. Call the shop to sign up. 336-779-6155.
